1. دعِ الجِزْعَ عن يُمناك لا عن شمالكا

    فلِي شَجَنٌ أحنو عليه هنالكَا

    Leave grief from your right not from your left

    For I have a yearning I care for there

  2. وقفْ بِي وإنْ سار المطيُّ بأهلِهِ

    وجُدْ لي به واِجعله بعضَ حِبائكا

    Stop for me even if the riding beast travels with its people

    Find it for me and make it some of your loved ones

  3. ولولا الهوى ما بتّ أسأل باخلاً

    وآملُ مَنّاناً وأعشَقُ فارِكا

    If not for passion I wouldn’t ask openly

    And hope for favors and love your abandonedness

  4. ومَن ذا الّذي لولاه ذلّلَ صَعْبَتِي

    وليَّنَ منّي للشَّموسِ العرائِكا

    And who is it that without him humbled my pride

    And softened me to the blazing suns your fineries

  5. من اللّائي يفضحن الغصون نضارةً

    وبالجِيد يُخجِلْنَ الظِّباءَ الأواركا

    Of those who expose the branches in blossom

    And with coyness put to shame the dancing gazelles

  6. عَفَفْنَ فما اِستَشهدن يومَ تفاخرٍ

    عَلى عَبَقِ الأفواه إلّا المساوِكا

    They were chaste so they were never martyred boasting

    Of the fragrance of mouths except paired necklaces

  7. ولمّا أرَتْنا ساعةُ البين عَنْوَةً

    وجوهاً وِضاءً أو شعوراً حوالكا

    And when the hour of separation attacked us violently

    Faces of light or hair around your necks

  8. نزعنا ثيابَ الحِلْمِ عنّا خلاعةً

    فلم نَرَ إلّا سادراً متهالكا

    We took off the clothes of forbearance from us quickly

    So we didn’t see except a crumbling decay

  9. وإلّا بدوراً بالرّحيل كواسفاً

    وإلّا شموساً بالحدوجِ دوالكا

    Or dwellings with departure disappointing

    Or suns wrapped around tents revolving

  10. وَمُنتَقِباتٍ بالجمال ملكْنَنا

    وما كنّ لِي لولا الجمالُ موالكا

    And veiled women with beauty they possessed us

    And I wouldn’t have been theirs without the beauty of your loyalty

  11. قتلن ولم يشهرن سيفاً وإنّما

    شَهرنَ وجوهاً طَلْقةً ومضاحكا

    They killed without unsheathing a sword but

    Unsheathed bright faces and laughter

  12. فأقسمتُ بالبُزلِ الهِجانِ ضوامراً

    يَرِدْن بنا البيتَ الحرامَ رواتكا

    So I swore by the twisting thick-haired forelocks

    They wanted to return us the sacred house your dwellings

  13. ويُبْصَرْنَ من بعد الكَلالِ نواحلاً

    وقد كنّ من قبل الرّحيلِ توامكا

    And they see after exhaustion the late comers

    And they had been before departure your twins

  14. بَرَكنَ على وادي مِنىً بعد شِقْوَةٍ

    ومِن بعد أنْ قضَّيْنَ منّا المناسكا

    They blessed upon the valley of Mina after hardship

    And after they finished from us the rituals

  15. ومِن بعد أنْ طرّحن أحلاسَ أظهُرٍ

    أكَلْن ظهوراً بالسُّرى وحواركا

    And after they threw the litters off their backs

    They ate the backs in the encampment and your surrounds

  16. أبَيْنَ وما يأبينَ إلّا نجابةً

    قُبيلَ بلوغٍ للمرامِ المباركا

    They refused and they only refuse out of coyness

    Nearing the realization of the blessed goal

  17. وما قِلْنَ إلّا بعد لأْيٍ وبعد ما

    قطعن اللّوى قَطْعَ المَدا والدَّكادِكا

    And they didn’t say except after beckoning and after

    They cut the saltworts cutting solid and crumbling

  18. لقد حلّ ركنُ الدّين ما شاء من رُبىً

    وطالتْ معاليه الجِبالَ السّوامكا

    The pillar of religion took whatever he wanted of ladies

    And his heights towered over the towering mountains

  19. وما زال نهّاضاً إلى المجد ثائراً

    وذا شَغَفٍ بالْعِزِّ والفخر سادكا

    He still raises to glory raging

    With fervor for honor and pride lineage

  20. فإنْ طلب الأقوامُ عوناً على عُلاً

    توحَّدَ لا يبغِي العَوِينَ المشاركا

    So if the nations seek aid over supremacy

    He alone doesn’t seek partnership or support

  21. رضيتُك ما ملكَ الملوك من الورى

    لقلبِيَ من دون البريّةِ مالكا

    I approved you since the sovereigns of earth ruled

    To my heart without the deserts possessor

  22. ولمّا ثنتْ كفّي عليك أنامِلِي

    تَركتُ اِحتقاراً كلَّ مَن كان مالكا

    And when my fingers curled upon you my finger tips

    I left scorning all who possessed ruling

  23. فإنْ كنتُ قد قلقلتُ شرقاً ومغرباً

    فَها أنا ذا ربُّ المطيِّ بَواركا

    So if I stirred east and west

    So I have no transition after the elegy I sang it

  24. فما لي اِنتِقالٌ بعد مَغنىً غنيتُه

    وما لي اِرتِحالٌ بعد يومِ لقائكا

    And I have no packing up after the day I met you

    And you who opened the sovereigns so there wasn’t

  25. وَأَنتَ الّذي فُتّ الملوكَ فلم يكنْ

    لعالِي البنا في المجدِ مثلُ علائكا

    To the height of glory like your supreme height

    They refused and you refused wronging us and there wasn’t

  26. أبَوْا وأبَيْتَ الضَّيْمَ فينا ولم يكنْ

    لكلّ أُباةِ الضَّيمِ مثلُ إبائكا

    To every refusal of wrong like your refusal

    And the given knew after asking

  27. وقد علم المُعْطَوْنَ بعد سؤالهمْ

    بأنّك تُغنِي الفقر قبل سؤالكا

    That you enrich poverty before your asking

    And how many virtues you belittled their place

  28. وكم لك من فضلٍ حقرتَ مكانَه

    وإنْ هو أخزى حاتِماً والبرامكا

    And if it’s most disgraceful to Hatem and Brami

    You rose above the highest unto you in a glimpse

  29. علوتَ عن السّامِي إليك بطرفِهِ

    فأين من الرّاقين حول جبالكا

    So where are the climbers around your mountains

    And they didn’t surrender until they saw you hovering

  30. وما سلّموا حتّى رأوك محلِّقاً

    يشقُّ على الأيْدِين بُعْدُ مَنالكا

    Rending the hands the distance to your range

    So if they hear of virtue from you surveillance

  31. فإنْ خبروا بالفضل منك رقابةً

    فقد شاهدوا ما شاهدوا من جلالكا

    They witnessed what they witnessed of your majesty

    And whoever doubts his courage

  32. ومَن كان ذا ريبٍ به في شجاعةٍ

    وبأْسٍ يَسَلْ عنه الوَغى والمعاركا

    And might the commotion and battlegrounds ask of him

    The next morning the spears drank in the foes’ throats

  33. غداةَ أَسالَ الطَّعنُ في ثُغرِ العِدا

    كما شاءَت الأيدي الدّماءَ السّوافكا

    As the hands desired the rushing blood fountains

    His right hand didn’t carry but swords

  34. وَما حملتْ يُمناه إلّا صوارماً

    لِكُلّ وريدٍ من كميٍّ بواتكا

    For each artery of a body your house

    And when transgression flared up in them you raided

  35. وَلَمّا اِستطار البغيُ فيهمْ أطَرْتَ في

    طِلابهمُ من ذي الجيادِ السَّنابكا

    Seeking them from benevolent steeds

    So you quenched from them the dark of complexion languishing

  36. فروّيتَ منهمْ أسمرَ اللّون ذابلاً

    وحكّمتَ فيهمْ أبيضَ اللّونِ باتكا

    And enabled in them the fair of complexion sovereign

    And they were not aware until they saw it changed

  37. وما شعروا حتّى رأوها مغيرةً

    عجالاً لأطرافِ الشَّكِيمِ لوائكا

    Stallions to the edges of the standards your processions

    Scattering wolves preying unto villages

  38. يُخَلْنَ ذئاباً يَبتدِرْن إِلى القِرى

    وإلّا سيولاً أو رياحاً سواهكا

    Or floods or winds other than your winds

    Casting before the encounter frowns

  39. ويُلْقَيْنَ من قبل اللّقاءِ عوابساً

    وبعد طلوع النَّصر عُدْنَ ضواحكا

    And after the rise of victory smile laughs

    And above the brave of them every bold cavalier

  40. وفوق القَطا منهنّ كلُّ مغامرٍ

    إذا تارَكُوه الحربَ لم يكُ تاركا

    If they left him the war he won’t be leaving

    Slaughtering the oryxes the water of the throats from the foes

  41. يخيضُ الظُّبا ماءَ النّحورِ من العِدا

    ويخضبُ منهمْ بالدّماءِ النّيازكا

    And dying them with blood the assaults

    And if you wished you empowered the swords among them

  42. ولَو شئتَ حكّمتَ الصّوارمَ فيهمُ

    وسُمراً طِوالاً للنُّحُور هواتكا

    And reddened spears for the necks your households

    So you quenched them until they had their fill the cups of destruction

  43. فَسقّيتَهمْ حتّى اِرتَوَوْا أكؤُسَ الرّدى

    وَحرّقْتَهمْ حتّى اِمّحوا بأُوارِكا

    And burned them until they were erased by your calamities

    And the striking of a stalwart the stalwarts continuously

  44. وضربُ طُلىً قطّ الطُّلى متواتراً

    وطعنُ كُلىً عطّ الكُلى متداركا

    And the stabbing of a champion the champions consecutively

    So if they returned from it with the destruction of themselves

  45. فإنْ رجعوا منها بهُلْكِ نفوسهمْ

    فأيديهمُ جرّتْ إليها المهالكا

    Their hands pulled them to it causing their doom

    So you dispensed from our tabs every need

  46. فقضّيتَ مِن أوطارنا كلَّ حاجةٍ

    وأخرجتَ أوتاراً لنا وحَسائكا

    And brought out for us strings and your gifts

    And you were whenever they resorted in your pardon reconciling

  47. وكنتَ متى لاذوا بعفوك صافحاً

    وإنْ معكوا كنتَ الألَدَّ المماعكا

    And if they battled you were most severe rallying

    So good tidings with what you informed of will

  48. فبشرى بما بُلّغته من إرادةٍ

    وشكراً لما أُوتيتَهُ من نَجائكا

    And gratitude for what you were given from rescue

    And for God practices through you magnificent

  49. وللّهِ عاداتٌ لديك جليلةٌ

    يَقُدْنَ إليك النَّصرَ قبل دُعائكا

    Guiding victory to you before your prayer

    And it was nothing but God not something else

  50. وَما كان إلّا اللَّهُ لا شيءَ غيره

    مُنجّيك منها والشّفاءُ لدائكا

    Saving you from it and the cure for your sickness

    And no worry about whom you invited and the Lord of earths

  51. ولا فِكْرَ فيمن صمَّ لمّا دعوتَه

    وربُّ الورى طرّاً مجيب دعائكا

    A bird answering your prayer

    So if you were one day seeking advising them

  52. فإنْ كنتَ يوماً طالباً ناصحاً لكمْ

    بلا رِيبَةٍ منه فإنِّيَ ذالكا

    Without any doubt from it I that

    I am not but in your hands against the foes

  53. فَما أَنا إِلّا في يديك على العِدا

    وفي قَسْمِك الأسنى وتحت لوائكا

    And in your division most intimate under your flag

    I have none in my desolate night from the earth

  54. وما لِيَ في ليلي البهيم من الورى

    ولا صبحَ فيه غيرُ نور ضيائكا

    No dawn in it but the light of your brilliance

    So fear no aloofness from me in advice

  55. فلا تَخشَ مِنِّي جفوةً في نصيحةٍ

    وَكيفَ وما لِي خشيةٌ من جفائكا

    And how when I have no fear of your aloofness

    And do not postpone a day for your service

  56. ولا تدّخرْ يوماً لخدمتك الّتي

    تَخصّك إلّا الحازمَ المتماسكا

    Except for the strong composed

    And do not be fooled by superficialities of the world

  57. ولا تغتررْ بالظّاهراتِ من الورى

    فكم يَقِقٍ يتلوه أقتَرُ حالكا

    For so much frailty followed by poorer state

    And Nayrouz informed that its arrival

  58. وقد خبّر النيروزُ أنّ قدومَه

    يُنيخُ السُّعودَ الغُرَّ فوق رجالكا

    Lays low the false pride over your men

    So take from it in what you hope and seek

  59. فخذ منه فيما أنت ترجو وتبتغي

    على عقبِ الأيّامِ فوق رجائكا

    Over the turn of days above your hope

    And stay do not disappear from us your suns setting

  60. ودُمْ لا اِنجَلتْ عنّا شموسُك غُرَّباً

    ولا زال عنّا ما لنا من ظِلالكا

    Nor disappear what we have for us of your shadows
