Man accumulates while the world disperses

And life passes as days are stealthily snatched

Yet we grope in darkness where there is

No full moon to illuminate nor stars nor embers

How often we climb a peak not meant for climbing

And guard something not meant for guarding

How often we stoop when in us is every proud nose

And we show submission when in us are honor and insolence

How can a rational being be content to have

A clean garment with a sullied dignity?

Or how can a day pass with closed eyelids

When behind is a wide-open grave of death?
