قُم نَبتَكِر بِكراً لَها أَنوارُ
وَلِطَوقِها مِن لُؤلُؤٍ أَزرارُ
Rise—let us drink early of a virgin wine alive with gleams of light,
and ring her round with buttons of pearl:
راحاً تُريكَ البَيتَ في غَسَقِ الدُجى
وَكَأَنَّهُ ما زالَ عَنهُ نَهارُ
wine that shows you the house in the murk of darkest night,
as though daylight had never departed from it.
فَكَأَنَّها قَبلَ المَزاجِ شَقائِقٌ
وَكَأَنَّها بَعدَ المَزاجِ بَهارُ
Before dilution, she seems all scarlet anemones;
after dilution, all white, yellow-hearted oxeye blossoms.
