Extinguish whatever has flared up of our sorrows,
and rebuild whatever has crumbled of our joys.
Fair weather came in a procession that never ceased
to assail winter’s army until it was routed.
Then the soul that had known no ease grew content,
and the eye that had not slept fell asleep.
The child of fear grew gray after childhood,
while the aged man of safety grew young after decrepitude.
Our scattered company was reunited—and but for the one
God graciously bestowed upon us, it would never have reunited.
O you who are the sea whenever it surges,
and who are the life-giving rain whenever it pours,
whose generosity, whenever it strikes,
makes Nothingness itself die of dread.
Your face has shone with its full-moon radiance;
the eclipse of pain is no longer within the soul.
Far be it from the One who embroidered its brocade
with beauty ever to wear it out with sickness.
He has indeed blessed you with recovery, so be grateful;
for through gratitude blessings endure.
