1. القَطرُ بَينَ مُنَثَّرٍ وَمُنَظَّمِ

    وَالقُضبُ بَينَ مُطَيلَسٍ وَمُعَمَّمِ

    Raindrops, between scattered and strung;

    Boughs, some in ṭaylasān cloaks and some turbaned;

  2. وَالماءُ بَينَ مُعَرَّجٍ وَمُدَرَّجٍ

    وَالنَبتُ بَينَ مُدَنَّرٍ وَمُدَرهِمِ

    Water, now meandering, now descending in tiers;

    Plants, some studded with dinars, some with dirhams;

  3. وَسَماؤُنا في فاخِتيٍّ مُذهَبِ

    وَرِياضُنا في فُستُقِيٍّ مُعلَمِ

    Our sky clad in gilded dove-gray,

    And our gardens in patterned pistachio-green.

  4. فَاِشرَب عَلى لَيلِ البَنفسِجِ وَاِسقِني

    ما دامَ مُختَلِطاً بِفَجرِ الخُرَّمِ

    So drink amid the violets’ night, and pour for me,

    As long as it remains mingled with the dawn of the khurram blossoms.
