1. وَمُهَفهَفٍ كَالغُصنِ في حَرَكاتِهِ

    قَلبي عَلَيهِ أَرَقُّ مِن وَجناتِهِ

    And a slender one, like a bough in his movements—

    my heart toward him is more tender than his cheeks.

  2. لَم يَختَبِر طَرَفي نُبُوَّةَ وَجهِهِ

    إِلّا أَصابَ الحُسنَ مِن حَسَناتِهِ

    Never has my gaze tested his face’s aloofness

    without finding beauty among his graces.

  3. قَد ضَلَّ فَكري عِن طَريقِ صَوابِهِ

    مُذ صارَ يَطمَعُ في بُلوغِ صِفاتِهِ

    My thought has strayed from the path of its arguments

    ever since it began aspiring to reach his qualities.
