قَد طَرَّزتَ مُساوِرُ الكُثبانِ
وَفُروِزَت مَطارِحُ الغُدرانِ
The dunes’ bracelets have embroidered it,
and the beds of the pools have set it with turquoise;
وَزُعفِرَت عَصائِبُ الحَواذِنِ
وَلَوَّنتَ عَمائِمُ الرَيحانِ
the circlets of ḥawādhān have saffron-dyed it,
and basil’s turbans have colored it.
وَالريحُ في قَياسِرِ الغيطانِ
تَخلُطُ خُلدِيّاً بِبَهرمانِ
And the wind, among the Caesars of the fields,
mixes paradise-green with Bahramān-red,
فَاِشرَب عَلى مَنثورِهِ الفَتّانِ
مِن قَبلِ تَطويهِ يَدُ الزَمانِ
then suffuses its bewitching scatter with the blend,
before the hand of Time folds it away.
