I have a brother whose affection is pure of treachery’s murk,
the very borders of his character clean of pride’s stain.
He tastes with me time’s sweetness and its bitterness,
and journeys by night with me across its level ground and through the rugged.
Whenever the face of his bounty shows itself to me, I never cease
marking it between the eyes with gratitude.
