She said, "Roam the breadth of the deserts
Until you settle where you have lush pasture."
But I refused to leave at your bidding
The abode which is obedient to me.
By my life! No place has wronged me
That autumn should make it suffer.
Nor am I one with meager living,
Or one suffering injustice and hunger.
When I have the day's nourishment,
And spurn all else, I'm not greedy.
How, when I own riches from livelihoods
With which a star of them rises?
So why should I shorten my striving steps
When the steps of sustenance seek me out?
