لَنا رَوضٌ يُقَصِّرُ عَنهُ شَرحي

وَأَنداءٌ حَبائِلُ كُلِّ سَمحِ

We have a garden beyond my power to describe,

And friends who embrace all generosity,

وَصافِيَةٌ يَطوفُ بِها غَزالٌ

لَهُ صُدغٌ كَلَيلٍ فَوقَ صُبحِ

And a gazelle who roams there,

With a cheek like a soft night above the dawn.

فَلا تَقعُدُ عَنِ العَيشِ المُهَنّا

وَلا تَدفَع بِخُلقِكَ صَدرَ نَصحي

So do not withdraw from a life of ease,

Nor with your nature repel my true advice,

فَإِنَّ الزَهرَ غَرَّةُ كُلِّ قَصفٍ

كَما التَشبيبُ غَرَّةَ كُلِّ مَدحِ

For flowers are the prime of every branch,

Just as youth is the prime of all praise.
