Pearls of dew and pearls of meadows,
And leaves that are drinking cups, and aromatic basil,
And the songs of birds that trill all
The melodies they've fashioned with their throats.
So spare me the blame of your hearing, and do not
Strike the fault-finders with the wine cups.
For I am impetuous, and I don't think you're able
With the force of your blame to restrain my wings.
