1. لَكَ عِندي مينا مِنَ الهَليونِ

    حَولَهُ عَسجَدٌ مِنَ الطَردينِ

    For you I have a port of dreams

    Surrounded by a fence of imagination

  2. وَفِراخٌ مِنها المَصوصُ وَمِنها

    ما عَدَ لَنا بِهِ إِلى التَطجينِ

    With chicks, some plucked and some

    We didn't account for in our planning

  3. وَرَضيعٌ إشذا أَتَيتَ أَتانا

    مِنهُ طَبّاخَنا بِرَطبٍ سَمينِ

    And a suckling lamb - if you come visit us

    Our cook will make you juicy date pudding

  4. في رِداءٍ مِن صَنعَةِ النارِ فيهِ

    عَلَمٌ أَخضَرٌ مِنَ الطَرخونِ

    In a fiery red robe it wears

    A green badge made of parsley

  5. وَلَنا مَجمَعٌ تَرى مِنهُ رَوضاً

    أَبيَضَ الجُبنِ أَسوَدَ الزَيتونِ

    And we have a place where you’ll see a garden

    White with cheese, black with olives

  6. لَم يَبنِ فيهِ بِنَّةٌ قَطُّ إِلّا

    كانَ شِبهاً لِلعَنبَرِ المَعجونِ

    Nothing was built in it except

    Something resembling kneaded ambergris

  7. وَلَنا خُرَّمٌ إِذا ما شَرِبنا

    نَتَحَسّى مِنهُ بِأَسمَرَ جَوني

    And we have a flask - when we drink from it

    We sense the taste of dark berries

  8. وَعَروسٌ كَريمَةُ الكَرمِ بِكرٌ

    ما لَها والِدٌ سِوى الزَرجونِ

    And a generous bride, virtuous in her generosity, a virgin

    Who has no father except the meadows

  9. لَو أَتانا كانونُ بِالثَلجِ فيهِ

    لَغَنَينا بِها عَنِ الكاتونِ

    If winter came to us with snow

    She would make us forget cotton

  10. وَلَنا فُستُقُ يَضافُ إِلى ما

    عِندَنا مِن مُحَمَّصِ الأَنسونِ

    And we have pistachios in addition to

    Our supply of roasted chickpeas

  11. وَشَمارٌ مَتى بِشَمِّنا وَجَدنا

    فيهِ طَعمَ الجَوارِشِ الكَمّونِ

    And a nectar - whenever we smell it

    We find in it the taste of perfect wine

  12. فَاِعزِمِ اليَومَ نَصطَبِح في رِياضٍ

    كَدَكاكينِ باعَةِ المَدهونِ

    So decide today - we will have breakfast in gardens

    Like the shops of perfume sellers

  13. وَغِياضٌ قَد وُشِّحَت بِبُرودٍ

    عَصبُها في نِهايَةِ التَلوينِ

    And meadows adorned with carpets

    Whose edges are at the peak of color

  14. وَرُبىً تُفرَشُ الطَوارِمُ مِنها

    كُلَّ يَومٍ بِالمُخمَلِ القَلَموني

    And plush rugs laid out daily

    With the softest velvet

  15. وَمُروجٍ غَرٍّ وَزَهرٍ أَنيقٍ

    وَنَسيمٍ رَطبٍ وَوَبلٍ هَتونِ

    And lush greenery, beautiful flowers

    And moist breezes and passionate wishes

  16. وَتَمَتَّع مِنَ النَدى بِلِآلٍ

    تَتَلالا في فَضَّةِ الياسَمينِ

    And enjoy the dew in the evenings

    Glittering on jasmine silver

  17. وَأَقاحٍ تَرنو إِلى جُلَّنارٍ

    وَخُزامى تَدنو إِلى نَسرينِ

    And pears inclining toward pomegranates

    And peaches nearing narcissus

  18. وَبِهارٍ مِن حَولِ آسٍ وَوَردٍ

    وَشَقيقٍ مِن حَولِ آذَريونِ

    And aroma surrounding myrtle and roses

    And thyme surrounding citrons

  19. وَغُصونٍ لَها نُجومُ ثِمارٍ

    وَثِمارٍ لَها بُروجُ غُصونِ

    And branches with starry fruit

    And fruit with celestial branches

  20. وَعُيونٍ قَد أَحدَقَت بِخُدودٍ

    وَخُدودٍ قَد أَحدَقَت بِعُيونِ

    And eyes that have stared at cheeks

    And cheeks that have stared at eyes

  21. وَاِعتَقِد لِلرَبيعِ دينَ النَصارى

    وَاِجتَهِد أَن يَكونَ دينُكَ ديني

    And believe springtime is the Christian religion

    And strive for your religion to be mine

  22. مَع مُغَنٍّ لَهُ سُيوفُ لِحاظٍ

    يَنتَضيهِنَّ مِن جُفونِ الجُفونِ

    With a singer whose eyelids

    Are swords sheathing their scabbards

  23. ما تَرى الجَوَّ في الثِيابِ الَّتي قَد

    أَذَهَبَ البَرقُ خَزَّها الطاروني

    You won’t see the atmosphere in clothes which

    Lightning has taken away their fancy embroidery

  24. لا تُفَرِّط في ساعَةٍ لَستَ فيها

    آمِناً مِن مُغافَصاتِ المَنونِ

    Don’t miss an hour you’re not secure in

    From the injustices of fate
