إِذا ما لِساني لاحَ في ظَهرِ نُطقِهِ
رَمى السَمعَ مِنهُ بِالأَغَرِّ المُحَجَّلِ
When my tongue flashes clear in eloquent speech
It casts at the ears a pearl-string well strung
فَ لاتُنكِرَن أَن قُلتُ ما لا تَقولُهُ
فَمِثلِ عَلِيٍّ مَن تَكَلَّمَ مِن عَلِ
So blame me not if I say what none would say
For the like of Ali is he whence speech has sprung
