أَخي راحُنا ما بَينَ دُرِّ حَبابِها

وَبَينَ ثَنايا مَن يَطوفُ بِها فَرقُ

My brother, we roamed between the pearls of its affection,

And between the folds of the one who wanders around it, we were separated.

فَسِر نَحوَنا ما دامَ بازَهرُ جَوِّنا

يُفَضِّضُهُ غَيمٌ وَيُذهِبُهُ بَرقُ

So travel towards us as long as the blossoms of our souls

Are opened by a cloud and taken away by lightning.

فَقَد أَبرَكَ الغَربُ الدُجى في مُناخِهِ

وَخَلّى زِمامَ الصُبحِ مِن يَدِهِ الشَرقُ

The West has blessed the darkness in its climate,

And the East has released the reins of dawn from its hand.

وَلا تَأَتِنا إِلّا عَلى ظَهرِ عَزمَةٍ

إِذا رَكَضَت في اللَهوِ كانَ لَها السَبقُ

And do not come to us except with a resolute determination,

When it galloped in amusement, it had the lead.

فَأَحسَنُ ما كانَ الزَمانَ إِذا غَدا

وَأَيّامُهُ غُرٌّ وَساعاتُهُ بُلقُ

The best time was when tomorrow began its journey

And its days are nectar and its hours aredrops of rain.
