1. عَقيقُ الشَقيقِ وَمينا الخُضَر

    وَتِبرُ البَهارِ وَدُرُّ المَطَر

    The ruby lip and emerald green

    The fragrant spring and raindrops' sheen

  2. وَساقٍ يُجَمِّشُ صَدرَ المَدامِ

    وَمُلهٍ يُدَغدِغُ خَصرَ الوَتَر

    The limbs that strum the wineglass' chest

    The fingers that the lute strings test

  3. فَدونَكَ تَنهَلُ مِمّا صَفا

    إِذا كُنتَ تَخشى عَلَيهِ الكَدَر

    If you're afraid what's pure will end

    Drink deep before the well runs dry

  4. إِذا ما وَرَدتَ إِلى مَورِدٍ

    فَبادِر بِرَبِّكَ قَبلَ الصَدَر

    When you arrive at a watering place

    Begin with praise, before you taste
