    We have, without sudden fright,

A goose and chicken plump and white,

A docile lad whose nature quite

    Abhors all rage and fight.

And water from a generous vine

Would almost hide it in its shine

Did we request this wealth of wine

    To grant us its delight.

Mellowed to smoothness in its jar

No roughness now its draughts can mar

And if thy lips are pressed to far

    They'll meet a soft delight.

I begged of thee, so set apart

All sullen pride, each stubborn heart,

For due this day before thy start

    Of fifty pilgrim-rites.
