لَبِسَ الرَبيعُ عَلى الجَزيرَةِ عُشبَهُ
ما بَينَ رَيحانٍ إِلى نَمّامِ
Spring donned its grass garment on the island
From basil to mint
فَكَأَنَّما البَحرانِ إِذ جَفّا بِها
صُبحانِ حُفَّ سَناهُما بِظَلامِ
So the two seas seemed when they left it dry
To have clad their brightness in darkness
