Neglect not life's pleasures, and hand me reddish coffee like flame

More delicious and sweeter for its drinker

Than happiness after long despair for the melancholy one

Protected since before time, none could tally the ages it consumed

    Safeguarded, no accident disgraced it

Nor did the knocker of misfortune trespass upon it

Time's spinning left of its body only

A light embodied in water and grapes

A virgin, when the pourer called it, it promised

In its vessels double weakness, so it loved not

It flowed, eyes grasped not its flowing

When poured, no illusion without fatigue

Did night's wings cloak while the morning returned

As though the sun had not set

If blending it for the repentant dressed it

Upon cups with crowns of grains

Then delight in it, safe from every affliction

Sing and drink, hasten the cup and choose

See not the shining sprinkle sprinkled

Like crosses of amber, bent sticks of eaglewood

As though after blending the wine is a prostration

Or the cheek of a captive lad in the hand of hardship

The garden laughs and flowers bloom

    The narcissi come in wonder

As though it is moist pearls cracked in

Branches of turquoise from purest gold
