1. نَفسي الفِداءُ لِمَن في طَرفِهِ دَعَجُ

    يَسبي بِهِ الأُسدَ مِنهُ شادِنٌ غَنِجُ

    My soul I'd sacrifice for one whose gaze

    Can make the lion obedient, tame, and sage

  2. يُصَيِّرُ اللَيلَ صُبحاً مِنهُ حَيثُ سَرى

    وَجهٌ لَهُ فيهِ مَن أَنوارِهِ سُرُجُ

    Who turns the night to morn with radiant face

    With light that lanterns lack and suns presage

  3. إِذا بَدا خَدُّهُ مِن تَحتِ سالِفِهِ

    حَسِبتُهُ فَضَّةً مِن فَوقِها سَبَجُ

    When from his wrap his cheek shows rosy hue

    I'd think it silver plated o'er with dew
