1. الماءُ بَينَ مُجَوشَنٍ وَمُدَرَّعِ

    وَالغَيمُ بَينَ مُرَخَّمٍ وَمُجَزَّعِ

    The water flows between surging and armored

    And the clouds between embroidered and pleated

  2. فَاِقطَع حِبالَ الهَمِّ مَع ذي غُنَّةٍ

    حُلوُ الغِناءِ خَفيفِ روحِ المَقطَعِ

    So break the ropes of worry with one who sings

    Sweet gentle singing, the spirit set free

  3. إِن أَتحَفَت أَوتارُهُ لِطَريقَةٍ

    وَقَعَت مِنَ الأَسماعِ أَحسَنَ مَوقِعِ

    If his strings strike up a melody

    They fall upon the ears in the finest place

  4. ما دامَ في رَبعِ عَرائِسٌ

    تُجلى بِكُلِّ مُرَندَجٍ وَمُرَصَّعِ

    As long as in the desert camp there are brides

    Adorned in every pleated and embroidered dress
