1. أَنا في الغُدُوِ وَفي الرَواحِ

    قَلِقٌ عَلى قَلِقِ الوِشاحِ

    In early morn and evening lull,

    I’m restless as the restless wind.

  2. ظَبيٌ يُحَبُّ لِأَجلِ ما

    في فيهِ مِن بَرَدٍ وَراحِ

    A gazelle who loves the chill,

    Of blowing breeze and morning kind.

  3. يُحكى العِذارُ بِخَدِّهِ

    لَيلاً تَحَيَّرَ في صَباحِ

    His cheeks do such a tale unfurl,

    Bewildered in the dawn's first light.
