حُبيتُ بِظَبيٍ يَصُولُ بِحُسنٍ

يَزِيدُ شَقَائِي إذا مَا رَآني

I love a graceful deer who injures me

with his beauty when he sees me.

بِظَبيٍ نَفورٍ ولَكن يَرى

شَقَائي شِفَائي بذاكَ بَراني

An unfriendly deer, but he sees

my injury as my remedy - shows me that.

يَصُولُ ولكن يَرى ذِلَّتي

إذا مَا بذاكَ أراهُ دَهاني

He injures, but sees my humiliation

if I show him my weakness.

بِحُسنٍ يَرَى ذِلَّتِي فَإِذا

رَآني بَراني دَهاني سَباني

With beauty he sees my humiliation. So when

he sees my remedy, he covers me in blame and insult.
