وفي كَبدِ المفجوعِ ما اللّه عالِمُ

به مِن ألِيم الحُزنِ إذ يتفَجَّعُ

And in the heart of the aggrieved what Allah knows

Of the pain of grief when he grieves

وفي أعيُنِ الباكي من الدمعِ ما الذِي

به يَشتفِي الباكِي إذا العينُ تَدمَعُ

And in the eyes of the weeping what is in it

That comforts the weeping when the eye sheds tears

فما خُلِقَ الدمعُ السخىُّ على الثَّرَى

لنا عبثا فالدمع للحزن يدفع

So tears were not created in vain

Tears repel grief

نعَم خبِّرُوني هل أحلَّ دِماءَنَا

أخُو الغَدرِ

Yes, tell me, did our blood become halal
