هو الطِّيِّبُ الأخلاقِ والإسمِ والذِّكرِ

أزُفُّ له ذَوبَ العَواطفِ في الشِّعرِ

He is of good character, name and mention

I profess to him the melting of emotions in poetry

وألتَمِسُ الأعذارَ منهُ إذا أنا

تَغَيَّبتُ عنه والكَريمُ أخو عُذرِ

And I seek excuses from him if I

Was absent from him, and the generous one is a brother of excuse
