فإن كنت في هدي الأئمة راغباً

فوطن على أن تنتحيك الوقائع

If you desire to follow the guidance of the imams

Then be steadfast, as calamities will test you

بنفس وقورٍ عند كل كريهةٍ

وقلب صبورٍ وهو في الصدر مانعُ

With a dignified soul in the face of every hardship

And a patient heart that withstands in the chest

لسانك محزونٌ وطرفكَ ملهمٌ

وسركَ مكتومٌ لدى الربِّ ذائعُ

Your tongue is saddened and your gaze inspired

Your secret known to the Lord, made public

وذكرك مغمورُ وبابك مغلقٌ

وثغركَ بسامٌ وبطنكَ جائعٌ

Your remembrance is drowned and your door is closed

Your mouth smiles and your stomach hungry

وقلبكَ مجروحٌ وسوقكَ كاسدُ

وفضلك مدفونٌ وطعنك شائعُ

Your heart is wounded and your market depressed

Your grace is buried and your flaws made known

وفي كل يومٍ أنت جارعُ غصةٍ

من الدهرِ والإخوان والقلبُ طائعُ

And every day you drink a bitterness

From fate, friends, the heart obedient

نهاركَ شغلُ الناسِ من غير مِنَّةٍ

وليلك شوقٌ غابَ عنهُ الطلائعُ

Your day is people's business without obligation

Your night is longing where pleasures are lost

فدونك هذا الليل خُذ له ذرعةً

ليومٍ عبوسٍ عز فيه الذرائعُ

So take this night, make use of it

For a gloomy day where excuses are scarce
