1. كما قُلتُم روضُ المعَالي به خِصبُ

    وهل بينَ ذي مجدٍ وبين العُلا حُجبُ

    As you said, the garden of glories is fertile

    And is there a veil between the glorious and the heights?

  2. جَلاَلة فاروقِ المُفدَّى الذي يرَى

    سَعادتَهُ في الدهرِ أن يسعَدَ الشَّعبُ

    The majesty of the redeemer Farouk who is seen

    His happiness in life is for the people to be happy

  3. سِوارٌ به حاطت قلوبُ رَعيةٍ

    فمِن قلبِهم جسمٌ ومن جِسمهِ قَلبُ

    A bracelet with which hearts of subjects are adorned

    So from their hearts a body and from his body a heart

  4. فأمسَت حياةُ الشَّعبِ في نبضَاتِه

    ألا فَليَدُم للشعبِ عَاهلُه الندبُ

    So the life of the people became in his pulses

    May his ruler who consoles the people last

  5. تبسَّم وَجهُ الشَّرق عنهُ وربما

    تقَطَّبَ وجهاً من ثَقافَته الغربُ

    The face of the East smiled because of him and perhaps

    The West frowned because of his civilization

  6. بَل أسفَرَ عَن صُبحَينِ عهدٍ وطَلعةٍ

    فذاك به نَزهُو وتِلكَ لها نَصبُو

    But he ushered in the dawn of two eras and a rising

    So we were delighted with that and erected monuments for it

  7. عُروجا إلى عَرشَيكَ عرشِ قلُوبِنا

    وعرشٍ له تعنو الأعاجمُ والعُربُ

    Rising to your two thrones, the throne of our hearts

    And a throne for him the non-Arabs and Arabs pledge allegiance

  8. لَئِن هُوَ أمسَى اليومَ عن مِصرَ غائبا

    وقد جَدَّ مِن عيدِ السرور لها ثوبُ

    If he is absent from Egypt today

    And has clothed it for the festival of joy with attire

  9. هي الشمس عن بعدٍ تشعُّ بنُورها

    فكَالسُّحبِ قد جادت على بُعدِها السُّحبُ

    It is the sun from afar radiating its light

    So like the clouds its lights poured out over the distance

  10. له الله يَوما مَرَّ لا ليلَةٌ له

    فلَيلُه عَن شمسِ النهارِ سناً يرُبو

    For him may God make a day pass, not a night for him

    So his night compared to the sun of day grows

  11. فَضِيئَت مِن الأضواءِ شُهبٌ بَسِيطةٌ

    على خَجَلٍ من نُورُها اختفِت الشُّهبُ

    Some faint comets shone

    Ashamed of their light, the comets hid

  12. ومِن نغَمٍ في كلِّ نادٍ ومَنزلٍ

    لها في نُفوسٍ من مَسامِعنا سَكبُ

    And from a melody in every club and home

    It had in souls from our hearings pouring

  13. ولم تلقَ إلا باسِماً تِلوَ باسِمٍ

    كما هَشَّ وجهُ الروضِ باكَرَه الصَّوبُ

    And it met only with a name succeeding a name

    As the face of the garden smiled at dawn from its side

  14. ومِن سيِّدٍ قد هشَّ تلقاءَ سيِّدٍ

    وسِربٍ لأترابٍ يُلاحقُه سِربُ

    And from a master who beamed meeting a master

    And a flock chasing after fellow flocks

  15. ومِن صُحفٍ أدنَت قُطوفُ ثمارِها

    وجَادت على القُرَى حَدائقُها الغُلبُ

    And from pages bringing near bunches of their fruits

    And their gardens overflowed onto the villages

  16. وقد شفَّ عَن نورٍ سوادُ سُطورها

    فهل مُقلَة أضحت وأسطرُها هُدبُ

    And its darkness uncovered a light in its lines

    Did it then become erased and its lines humps?

  17. ومِن قامةٍ تختالُ تزهُو كأنما

    بأعطافِها في روضِها ماسَتِ القُضبُ

    And from a stature strutting and towering as if

    With its shoulders it touched the bushes in its meadow

  18. وناظِم دُرٍّ قد طفًَا فوقَ بجرِه

    أيطفًو بسَطحِ البحرِ لؤلؤهُ الرَّطبُ

    And a stringer of pearls hovering over its sea

    Do pearls float on the sea’s surface moist?

  19. بِأنمُلِه قد ضَمَّ عُنقَ يَراعَةٍ

    فأرعفَه سِحرا به يُخلَبُ اللُّبُّ

    With his fingers he clasped the neck of a gazelle

    So he made it gracefully bend, bending its curvature

  20. وإِن جاهدَت مِصرٌ بعَهدِ ملِيكِها

    ففي السَّاعِد المُمتدِّ صَارمُه العَضبُ

    And if Egypt struggled in her king’s era

    Then in the outstretched arm lies its sharp sword

  21. ولمَّا رأيتُ المَطلََ قد عاق مُنيتِي

    عتَبتُ على نفسِي وهل ينفعُ العتبُ

    And when I saw the horizon had denied my wishes

    I blamed myself - and does blaming avail?

  22. فما فاتَني إربٌ بِطلعةِ عيدِه

    إذا فاتَني من عيدِ طلعتِه إربُ

    What I missed of the celebration of his ascent

    If I missed the ascent of his celebration, I missed much

  23. هوَ المجدُ لم يُدرَك بغيرِ إرادَةٍ

    فأصعَبُه سهلٌ وأسهَلُه صعبُ

    It is glory, unattained except by will

    So its hardest is easy and its easiest is hard

  24. رَست منهُ للأنظارِ هَضبةُ سُؤدَدٍ

    بأخلاقِه يفترُّ عَن زهرِها عُشبُ

    Because of his morals, the mound of Sodud rested

    From it the grass burst into flower for the eyes

  25. يضوعُ أريجُ المسكِ إن ذُكرَ اسمُه

    فأذكُرُه والطِّيبُ يعشَقُه القلبُ

    The scent of musk diffuses if his name is mentioned

    So I mention him and the perfume loves the heart

  26. فَحيّا كُما حيُّ الصّبَاح بِطلعةٍ

    فمنها لنَا نورٌ ومنّا لها حُبُّ

    So greetings, as the morning greets with an ascent

    From it we have light and from us it has love

  27. رأي نفسَه في الغابِ شِبلَ قَساوِرٍ

    فهبَّ كما هَبُّوا وذَبَّ كما ذَبُّوا

    He saw himself in the forest as cubs of bracelets

    So he sprang as they sprang and melted as they melted

  28. فَسيراً حثيثا يا ابنَ مِصرٍ إلى العُلاَ

    ليشكرَك التاريخُ والناسُ والرَّبُ

    Move briskly, O son of Egypt, to the heights

    So history, people, and the Lord thank you
