Abdullah has left me, though once my aid
In times of trial, he brought me comfort.
My sight that let me see is gone away.
My hearing that allowed me listen fled.
It would not hurt had he bid me goodbye.
It would not hurt him had I bid adieu.
Early you traveled, Abdullah, and left
My heart to sever into pieces torn.
Unless your eyes had blessed me before leaving,
My tears and memories would see you away.
Without his soul, what can this body do?
A body without its soul cannot delight.
Without his thoughts, what can my mind construe?
His insights shed on truths a shining light.
I cannot forget his counsel sublime,
His wisdom towering over mortal plight.
O you who bring news of his return soon,
I beg of you my life, do not deny.
Since he left, darkness covers the moon,
Red planet, do you watch him from the sky?
