1. معَ الأيام تلتَئِمُ الجِراحُ

    وبعدَ الليلِ ينبلجُ الصَّباح

    With time wounds heal,

    And after night dawn breaks.

  2. ولا تحزَن لحادثَةٍ تجلَّت

    فإن الحُزنَ يَعقُبه انشِرَاحُ

    Don't grieve for what has passed,

    For grief gives way to cheer.

  3. وكافِح في الحَياة جيوشَ همٍّ

    فإنَّ العيشَ في الدنيا كِفاحُ

    Struggle on through waves of care,

    For life is but a strife.

  4. ألَستَ بناظِري من قبل يَومٍ

    وزَندُ الهَمِّ فِيَّ له اقتِدَاح

    Did you not know me once before,

    When woe would set me all afire?

  5. وقد ضَاقَت بِىَ الدنيا مَجَالا

    وأضحَى العِبءُ عني لا يُزَاحُ

    The world grew strait for me to bear,

    Its burden was too much to bear.

  6. وُأتبِعُ زَفرةً حرَّى باخرَى

    يكادُ يمَسُّني منها افتِضَاحُ

    I sigh till I can scarce draw breath,

    Ashamed, feeling my honour stained,

  7. إلى أن قد حلَلتُ برَبعِ شهمٍ

    بِجودِهِ هزَّ عِطفَيهِ السَّمَاحُ

    Till to a noble soul I came;

    His generous spirit soothed my pain.

  8. فساورني سرور وابتهاج

    وعاودني هناء وارتياح

    Joy and delight returned anew,

    And peace and comfort I regain.

  9. همام للصديق أجل ذخر

    ولكن للعدو أجل متاح

    A treasured friend is balm indeed,

    While for a foe no cure we need.

  10. خلاله تعجز الأرقام عدا

    وتخرس ألسن عنها فصاح

    Peerless he is, beyond all praise,

    The finest words cannot convey

  11. يَهَشُّ لِزائر كرَماً ولُطفا

    كما هشَّت لِقَطرِ نَدىً بِطَاحُ

    His noble mien in prose or verse,

    His courage known by friend and foe.

  12. وتَفترُّ المُنَى لِحِماه ثَغراً

    كَأن عن ثَغرِها افترَّ الأقَاحُ

    Muhammad! Of Abraham's line,

    Whose glories every book recalls.

  13. وأخلاقٌ كما نَفَحت زهورٌ

    ومازجَ راحَه الماءٌُ القَرَاحُ

    Long have I known you from afar,

    As wind knows well its destined way.

  14. بليغُ القولِ يَعجِزُ عنهُ وَصفاً

    ويَقصُرُ عنه شعرٌ وامتِداحُ

    Though time may come and go,

    My friend, you are my strongstay.

  15. ويَعرفُه بِنادِي القوم صدُرُ

    وتَعرِفُه الصَّوارِمُ والرِّمَاحُ

    And but for you I have no Peer

    To veil me in modesty's robe.

  16. محمَّدُ يابنَ إبراهيمَ يا مَن

    بمَجدِه حدَّثَت كتبٌ صِحَاحُ

    Your nature is a garden fair,

    Watered by streams, tending hearts torn.

  17. سَمِىُّ قد عرفتُك مِن زمانٍ

    كما عَرفت مَجارِيهَا الريَاح

    Eloquence fails to sing your praise,

    Poets and eulogies fall short.

  18. عرفتكَ إن سطا عنِّي زمانٌ

    فأنتَ له بِيُمنايَ السِّلاحُ

    Your clan knows well your noble heart,

    As valorous swords know tempered steel.

  19. ودونَكَها كَعذرَا مِن صدِيق

    يًُحيطُ بوجهِها خجلاً وِشَاحُ
