كلَّما تِهتَ دَلالا

زِدتَ حُسنا وجَمالا

Whenever you turn away, beloved

You become more beautiful and perfect

سيدي قَدُّك أَودى

بِفُؤادي حينَ مالا

My lord, your height has killed

My heart when it leaned

لذةُ الحبِّ عَفافاٌ

يُكسِبُ الحبَّ جَلالا

The pleasure of love is chastity

Love bestows majesty

ما أرى طَعمَه إلا الش

شَهد والعَذبَ الزُّلالا

I see its taste only as sweet honey

And fresh pure drink

ولقد إزدادَ هَدياً

كلَّما زدتُ ضَلالا

And you have indeed become more guiding

The more I go astray

أشفِ من عَيني سُهادا

واشفِ مِن عَقلي اختِبالا

Quench my eyes from drowsiness

And heal my mind from confusion

ما أرى حُبَّك إلا

قاتِلي واللهِ حالا

I do not see your love

Except as my killer, by God, now

وغرامي فيكَ يَزدا

دُ يَقيناً واتِّصالا

And my passion for you increases

Certainty and connection

كلَّما أَيقنتُ أن ال

وصلَ قد صارَ مُحالا

Whenever I am certain that

Reunion has become impossible

ماسَ غُصناً وتَبَدَّى

بَدرَ تَمٍّ يَتَلالى

A branch has blossomed and

A full moon has appeared, shining

إنَّ بعضَ الظَّنِّ إثمٌ

صَدَق اللهُ تَعالى

Indeed, some doubt is sin

God the Exalted spoke truthfully

بالذي زادَكَ حُسناً

وجَمالا وجَلالا

By the one who increased your beauty

And perfection and majesty

إرحَمِ الصَّبَّ المُعَنَّى

فيكَ وامنَحهُ وِصالا

Have mercy on the enamored youth

In you and grant him reunion

سيدي عبدُك يَشكُو

منكَ هَجرا يَتَوالى

My lord, your slave complains

Of separation from you continuing

لم تَزَل تَزدادُ فِعلا

كُلَّما زِدتُ انفِعالا

You never stop increasing in action

Whenever I am more affected

كلَّما رُمتُ سُلُوًّا

قال لي قَدُّكَ لا لا

Whenever I intend solace

Your height says no, no

يا جليلَ القَدر إنِّي

عبدُكَ الصَّافي المَقالا

O majestic one, I am

Your sincere servant in speech
