حَكَموا ثُمَّ حَكَّموا في رِقابٍ
سَيفَ أحقادِهِم فكانوا طَغَاما
They ruled, then judged with vengeance in their necks,
Their swords of hatred made them tyrants.
وقديماً عَرفتُهم وجَديداً
Long have I known them, and now afresh
