1. عفواً إذا أكثَرتُ من إنشَادِي

    في كلِّ مَا مِن مَحفلٍ أو نَادِ

    Forgive me if I recite too often

    In every gathering or club I attend

  2. ووقفتُ بينَ مَصاقِع الخُطباءِ وال

    أُدبَاءِ مَوقِفَ جَائِعٍ مِن زَاد

    And stand between the pulpits of orators and

    The stance of a hungry man without provision

  3. فيقَالُ عنِّي شاعرٌ مُتوثِّبٌ

    لِلقَول مثلَ تَوثُّبِ الصَّيَّاد

    It is said of me, he is an impetuous poet

    Jumping into words like the leap of a hunter

  4. كَلاَّ فما هىَ بالقَوافِي إنَّها

    آهاتُ أعمَاقِي وصَوتُ بِلادي

    No, it is not about rhymes, indeed they are

    The sorrows of my depths and the voice of my country

  5. فإذا نظَمتُ فقد نظَمتُ عَواطِفي

    وإذا نثرتُ فقد نَثَرتُ فُؤَادي

    When I compose it is my emotions I compose

    And when I express it is my heart I express

  6. مَا لي رأيتُ العفوَ يَكثُر ذِكرُهُ

    بِتَردُّدٍ من رائِحٍ أو غَادِ

    Why have I seen forgiveness mentioned so much

    With hesitation by a fragrant wind or companion

  7. أَهُناكَ مِن جُرمٍ يقَابُ حُكمُهُ

    بالعفوِ عندَ السَّادةِ الأمجَاد

    Is there a crime whose sentence

    Is pardoned by the generous nobles

  8. إلا إذا ما المرءُ يُمسِي مُجرِما

    في ذَبِّه عَن مَوطنِ الأجدَاد

    Except when one becomes a criminal

    In protecting the homeland of ancestors

  9. المُجرمُونَ هُمُ عَن أنفُسِهم عَفوا

    هُوَ منطِقٌ يأبَى قِيَاسَ فَسَاد

    The criminals have forgiven themselves

    An illogical rhetoric of corruption

  10. لكنَّه واللهِ أعظمُ مَظهرٍ

    لتَحَكُّمِ الأضدَادِ في الأضدَاد

    But by God it is the greatest manifestation

    Of the contradictions controlling contradictions

  11. راموا استِمالَ عَواطِفٍ بتلَطُّفٍ

    هيهَات ترجِعُ قَبسةٌ لِزِنَاد

    They wanted to entice emotions with gentleness

    Alas, a spark will not return to tinder

  12. لم تُرهِبُوا الآسادَ يا بُعرَانَها

    بشَقائِقِ الإرغَاء والإِزبَاد

    You did not frighten the lions, o insects

    With flowers of coaxing and kindling

  13. فخرِ العروبَة حاملِ السَّفينِ مِن

    عَضبِ الوغَى ويرَاعِهِ الميَّادِ

    The pride of Arabism, the captain of the ship from

    The fury of the tempest and its violent winds

  14. شَهبندرِ الوطنِ الشهيرِ بمشرِقٍ

    بِثَباتِ مَبدَئِهِ وصِدقِ جِهَاد

    The famed lion of the nation, known for its east

    For his steadfast principle and honest strife

  15. إنِّي أهنِّئكُم بنَيل عزِيمَةٍ

    بثَباتِها تَربُو علَى الأوطان

    I congratulate you on attaining resolve

    With its steadfastness nations flourish

  16. وبجَمعِ إخوانٍ تبسَّمَ عنهُمُ

    شِعرِي كِوردِ الروضِ غِبَّ عِهَاد

    And with the company of brethren, my

    Poetry smiled like flowers in a meadow

  17. مِن كلِّ ذي أدبٍ تفَتَّقَ نُورُه

    فأتَى كنظمِ الدُّرِّ في الأجيَاد

    From every person of merit, his light emerged

    And came like strung pearls on necks

  18. المسلمُون بمشرِقٍ ومبغرِبٍ

    متآلِفون كعَاتِقٍ ونِجَاد

    Muslims of east and west

    United like shoulders and wings

  19. رُوحٌ من الإخلاصِ وُحِّدَ فيهِمُ

    مُتَقَسَّمٌ في عالَمِ الأجسَادِ

    A spirit of sincerity made them one

    Fragmented across the world of bodies

  20. المغربُ الأقصَى اذكرُوه كلَّما

    كانت دموعُكُمُ علَى اتسعدَاد

    Remember the Maghreb whenever

    Your tears flow for Oujda

  21. هو منكُمُ وإليكمُ في نسبَةٍ

    لا تُهمِلُوه يا شُعُوبَ الضَّادِ

    It is part of you and belongs to you by lineage

    Do not neglect it O people of dhad

  22. هو مَوطنُ الأمجَاد والأنجَاد مِن

    أهلِيه يَومَ ندىً ويومَ طِرَاد

    It is the home of glories and achievements

    Of its people, one day called and another pursued

  23. ولسوفَ يَرفعُ راسَه ويصُولُ ما

    بينَ الثَّعالِب صَولَةَ الآساد

    And it will soon raise its head and pounce as long as

    There are foxes, with the pouncing of lions

  24. فالدهرُ فينَا ذُو العَجَائب لم تَزل

    أيَّامُه بروائِحٍ وغَوَاد

    Time holds wonders for us that never cease

    Its days blow fragrant winds

  25. وزعيمُنا عبدُ العزِيز مثِيلُكُم

    قاسَى مِرَار النفي والإبعَاد

    And our leader Abdulaziz is like you

    He suffered the bitterness of exile and estrangement

  26. واليومَ ذاك العفوُ عمَّهُ مِثلكُم

    فكأنَّكُم كُنتُم علَى مِيعَاد

    And today that forgiveness encompassed him like you

    As if you were at an appointed time
