The morning breeze toyed with the slender boughs
My tears flowed and disturbed my sleep
The glittering lightning on embers
Rekindled my longing and sorrow
The clouds crowded the slopes of four-peaked Rama
Tossed by the four winds
The showers from Al-Muzn’s clouds watered
That plateau of Huzwa and those hills of La’la’
Sturdy in build is the Wanderer in her dark cloak
That still mocks the unsheathed swords
As we stopped one morn by the winding pass
To weep for the band that would soon depart
Their tents on many-hilled Ayss
Seemed like the humps of pregnant camels
My patience betrayed me not after they left
On the day of parting, if only my heart had gone with me
They walked away, their guide ahead
Changing places from last to first
Never so fertile their land, even if
Watered whenever parched, by my tears
