Her grace cannot be bent, nor can her kindness

Nor do her virtues yield to compromise

When she draws near, desire itself retreats

And when distant, dreams themselves draw close

I weep, and she but laughs in wonderment

So thunder and lightning fill my eyes and hers

O bent branch, nothing can match your softness

O crescent moon, no beauty can describe yours

On her cheek blooms a rose of peerless beauty

That has committed no crime but to let itself be plucked

How fortune has favored you, to be so close to her wrist

While you, bracelet, can freely wrap around them

If the sun could speak, in truth it would say

I have no splendor to match what is in her

Grant me her equal in brilliance and overflowing charm

For I have no means to fathom her depths
