Our sheltering nurse has circled us

    With her shining lights.

    Her seasons turned above us,

Cups passed round by dawns lit up

By the sun of her glowing fires.

The horizon of the rainy sky shone out

    With its winds and rains.

    The branches' gentle boughs sang

In the tongues of their twittering birds.

The disturbed rapture of that song

Set dancing the slender bridal trees.

So rise, and walk the garden's peace,

Where smiles break out on opening flowers,

And scented winds spill out their secret clears.

Her open plains outsoar all others,

Pasture to the tribes from everywhere.

God's spring days have special grace

In their carpets and their trees.

When the self here is watered, it tells tales

That link back to the ancients.

It brings you texts inscribed at birth,

    Traced through Adam and beyond.
