1. إليكِ فغيرُ فرضٍ أن تَلومي

    حَزيناً قد تفرَّدَ بالهُموم

    To you, so it's not an obligation to blame me

    Sad, alone in sorrows

  2. دعيهِ وبثَّهُ فعساهُ يلقَى

    لشكواهُ اخا قلبٍ رحيمٍ

    Leave him be, let him vent, may he find

    For his complaints a kind, merciful heart

  3. ألا يا صاحبي هذا المُصلَّى

    وتلكَ ملاعبُ الظَّبي الرَّخيمِ

    Oh my friend, here is the mosque

    And there, the pastures of the docile deer

  4. فحيَّ وقُل سلامٌ مِن سَليمٍ

    بذي سَلمٍ على الرَّشأِ السَّليمِ

    Greet them and say, "Peace from Salim

    To the virtuous, upon the gentle meadow"

  5. وسل غِزلانَ وادي بانس سَلعٍ

    إِذا سنحت عن العَهدِ القَديمِ

    And ask the gazelles of Wadi Bani Salim

    When you stray from the ancient covenant

  6. وعرِّض بي فما لي من جَنانِ

    يُلاقي بي ظِبا ذاكَ الصَّريمِ

    Excuse me, for I have no gardens

    Where I meet the wild beasts of the wasteland

  7. بجرعاءِ الحمى النَّجديِّ وُرقٌ

    سَقاني نَوحُها جُرعَ الَحميمِ

    With the fever's burning thirst leaves

    Its draughts quenched my burning thirst

  8. وفي تلك الخيامِ هلالُ خدرٍ

    غَرامي في محبَّتهِ غريمي

    And in those tents the crescent moon of Khadar

    My passion in loving him is my destiny

  9. سأَلتُ فلم أَجِد منه كريماً

    وكيفَ بجُودِ معشوقٍ كريمِ

    I asked but found no generosity in him

    How could I expect generosity from a generous beloved?

  10. روَى عن خصرِه جسمي وأدَّى

    صحيحاً مُسنَدَ الخبرِ السَّقيمِ

    He quenched my body from his waist and related

    Correctly the narrative of the frail

  11. يخافُ قضيبُ قامتِه انهِصاراً

    فلم يَبرَح يمرُّ معَ النَّسيمِ

    His erect member fears breaking

    So it does not stop swaying with the breeze

  12. أَيُطمعُني الهوى منه بوصلٍ

    ودونَ وصالهِ صَيدُ النُّجومِ

    Does desire make me hope for a union with him

    When without his union is the hunting of stars?

  13. أمَا وقضيبِ قامتِه وثغرِ

    يُعيرُ قلائدَ الدُّرِّ النَّظيمِ

    No, by his erect member and his mouth

    That mocks necklaces of symmetrical pearls

  14. وصبحٍ تحتَ طُرَّتهِ منيرٍ

    وليلٍ فوقَ غُرَّتهِ بَهيم

    By the dawn beneath his shining veil

    And the night above his splendid cloak

  15. لقد شهَرت لواحظُه وَسَلَّت

    سُيوفاً غيرَ داميةِ الكُلومِ

    Indeed, his glances have unsheathed

    Swords, not harmless blades
