1. سلُوا أَجفانَهُ النَّجلا

    لِماذا فَوَّقت نَبلا

    Ask the eyelids of the graceful gazelle

    Why have you aimed high?

  2. رَمت باللَّحظِ عُشَّاقاً

    فأضحوا كُلَّهُم قتلَى

    With a glance you have killed lovers

    Leaving them all slain

  3. ويَكِفيهم إِذا صَدَّ

    دَلالٌ مِنهُ يُستَحلىَ

    A coquettish glance from you

    Is pleasure enough

  4. وَطرفٌ حَلَّلَ الهَجرَ

    وَعِطفٌ حرَّمَ الوَصلا

    An eye that makes separation lawful

    And a gaze that prohibits union

  5. وَجريالُ على دُرِّ الثَ

    نايا أَصبحَت تُجلَى

    The pearls on your teeth

    Have become apparent

  6. فَيا قَامَتُهُ رفقاً

    بِبالٍ بالأَسىَ يَبلي

    So take it easy, you of slender frame

    On a heart worn out with sadness

  7. ويا ناظرهُ الوسنا

    نَ مَهلاً بالرَّدى مضهلا

    And you whose tender look

    Leads astray to destruction

  8. وَقَد أصبحتُ لا أسمَ

    عُ لا لوماً ولا عذلاً

    I have now become unable to hear

    Blame or rebuke
