Peace upon the home that has become so distant
While my tears upon it throughout time pour down
My friend, why can’t I see lightning flash
In Janneq nor the lights of Damascus shine
It saddens us that sorrows take us away
While my spirit remains, beyond the wilderness
When a breeze blows from the side of the sand
Bearing traces of yearning and cries of despair
The winds of sadness blew in the bloom of morn
And roused for us, beyond the groves, a gale
I remembered you while tears veil my eyes
And my heart yearns, wounded by the distance
I cried, oh if only the pain of love’s agony
Would come and go, moaning night and day
Will God return to us our days that we
Once enjoyed, while adversity moves on?
