لكَ ثغرٌ كلُؤلُؤِ في عَقيقِ

ورُضابٌ كالشهُّدِ أو كالرَّحيقِ

Your lips are like gleaming rubies,

Your smile like honey or sweet nectar.

تِهتَ حُسناً بكلِّ حظِّ منَ الحُس

نِ جليلٍ في كلِّ معنىً دقيقِ

You are endowed with every charm and grace,

Exalted in meaning, refined and astute.

وتفرَّدت بالجمالِ الذي خلاَّ

كَ مُستَوحشاً بِغَيرِ رفيقِ

You are peerless in your beauty, like

A lonely one without a companion.

حمَّلتني عيناكَ ما لستُ يوماً

في هَواها لبعضِه بمُطيقِ

Your eyes burdened me with passion

I have never been able to endure.

وسقَتني بما تُديرُ كؤساً

أنا منها ما عشتُ غيرَ مُفيقِ

You made me drink from a cup

That left me dazed and confused.

يا بخيلاً عليَّ حتَّى بنومِ

مُطمِعِ منهُ في خيالِ طَروقِ

Stingy one, even in dreams

You deny me the hope of attaining my desire.

باللِّحاظِ التي بها لم تزل تَر

شُقُ قلبي وبالقَوامِ الرَّشيقِ

With your soft cheek my heart

You keep cleaving, and your graceful figure.

لا تغَر بالغُوَيرِ إِذ تَتَثنَّى

فيهِ أعطافُ كلِّ غُصنِ وريقِ

Do not be fooled by the bending

Of each branch and leaf.

واثنِ مُحمرَّ وَردٍ خَدَّيكَ واستُر

هُ وإلاَّ ينشقُّ قلبُ الشَّقيقِ

Reveal your rosy cheeks and hide

Them not, else a heart will break.
