غرَّاء تحسبها غُموداً كلّما
شهَرَتْ بوارقُها بها أسيافا
Illusions you think are lasting whenever
its lightning brandishes swords through it
كُسِىَ الثَّرَى لمّا همَتْ فظننتُها
بالحَزْنِ عِيرا أُوقرت أفوافا
The ground was covered when it intended so I thought it
with sorrow a caravan loaded with howdahs
وتناثرت دُرَرا عليه دموعُها
لما جَمَدن فخلتُها أصدافا
And its tears' pearls were scattered over it
when they froze so I found them shells
