A virgin maiden flaunts her multicolored robes,
She rose to show us the wine’s froth atop a goblet—
a full moon by night, revealing the sun at twilight,
beneath the stars, arrayed in the rainbow’s brocade.
Marvel at her, a firmament that has deepened our infatuation;
with a smiling mouth she rivaled the Pleiades and put them to shame.
I took it for nectar—then we caught the scent of lightning streaming
into dawn’s deep sea, plunging as morning blazed clear.
