تيسَّر من بعد العسير لقاؤنا

فقلتُ وقد هَشَّ الحبيبُ وسلَّما

After hardship, our meeting was made easy,

So I said, as the beloved smiled and bid farewell:

ألألاءُ برقٍ لاح في الأفق ضاحكاً

يُنير البرايا ام حبيبي تبسما

"Are those smiles lightning flashing in the laughing horizon,

Illuminating the lands, or is it my beloved's smile?"

وضمَّت يدُ الاشواق صدرى لصدرهِ

وقال الهوى ذوبا هناءً وأَنعُما

And longing's hand drew my chest toward his chest,

And passion said, melting with bliss and comfort:

يقرّب قلبينا العناقُ تشفيّاً

ويبعدُ جسمينا العفافُ تحكما

Embrace brings our hearts closer to quench our thirst,

And modesty keeps our bodies apart in wisdom.

فلما أَذبنا الجلد والعظم نشوةً

غدونا ملاكاً واحداً مَهدُهُ السما

So when ecstasy melted our flesh and bone,

We became one angel, his bed the sky,

وغاب عن الانظار شخصانِ طالما

أَسالت يدُ العذَّال دمعهما دما

And two figures disappeared from sight for so long

The hand of the tormentor shed their tears as blood.

كذلك عقبى من يفي العهد مُخلصاً

يرى الخُلدَ اما الخائنون جهنَّما

Thus is the consequence when one fulfills their vow faithfully:

They see eternity. As for the traitors—Hellfire!

فإن شئتم التفريقَ كَيدا إلا اركبوا

جناح الفضا واستخدموا الارض سلَّما

If you wish to separate us out of malice, you need only

Ride the wings of space and make the earth your ladder.
