لي فاتنٌ طلب المزيدَ من الهوى

جهلاً بما القاهُ فاستعفيتهُ

I have a beloved who sought more love from me

Ignorant of what I had already given him

فاطال في عتبي الملامَ توهُّماً

اني بخلتُ زهادةً فعذرتُهُ

So he blamed me at length imagining

That I was miserly, so I excused him

لم يعلَمن ان الغرامَ بأسرهِ

عندي ولو بيدي لزيادة زدتهُ

He did not know that all of love

Was mine, and if it were in my hand I would have given him more
