غَصب المِسكينُ زَوجَته
فَجرت عَيناهُ من درره
The poor man had his wife taken from him by force;
then his eyes streamed with his pearls.
ما قَضى المِسكينُ من وَطر
لا وَلا المعشار من وَطره
The poor man did not satisfy his desire—
no, nor did the man with the choice satisfy his own.
عُذت بِاللَهِ اللَطيف بنا
أَن يَكونَ الجور مِن قَدرِه
I have sought refuge in God, the Gentle One toward us,
lest injustice be part of His decree.
