1. بَقينا في بَهائِم راتِعات

    تَجولُ ولا اِلى عَقل تَؤول

    We remained among grazing beasts

    Wandering, with no inclination towards reason

  2. فَإِن حَدَثَت عَن سَمعِكَ وَبقل

    فَأَنتَ لَدَيهِم رَجل نَبيل

    So if you speak of what you've heard and seen

    To them you're a noble man

  3. وَإِن حَدَثت عَن اِبوابِ عِلم

    فَأَنتَ لَدَيهِم فَدم ثَقيل

    And if you speak of the gates of knowledge

    To them you're an insufferable bore
