وقفت عمري على قومي وآمالي

وبعتهم همّتي والمطمح الغالي

I have dedicated my life to my people and my hopes

And sold them my ambition and most precious dreams

أحيى لهم وأفدّى مجدهم كلفا

بالعالمين جواداً غير بخّال

I revive their glory and redeem it at any cost

Generous to all humanity, never stingy or withholding

إن ضاحكوا دهرهم باريتهم فرحا

ورحت اشدو هنى القلب والبال

If they laugh during their days, pleased with their fate

I sing to soothe my heart and mind's troubles

وإن تنادوا إلى همٍّ يؤرّقهم

ألقيت في النار أنفاسي وأوصالي

And if they call for help, anxiety weighing them down

I cast my breath and limbs into the flames

قومي وهم زينة الدنيا وبهجتها

وفي سماء المعالي نجمها العالي

My people are the jewel and delight of this world

The highest star in the heavens' glories

أعمامي الصيد في الإسلام منبتهم

والعيسويون في التاريخ أخوالي

My uncles hunted the foundations of Islam

And the Christians in history are my aunts' husbands

أهوى هواهم وافدى منهمو شهبا

يشيّدون العلا بالعلم والمال

I love what they love and would redeem their falling stars

Building the heights through knowledge and money
