O village of religion, its people raving mad
Distracted from the glory of scriptures by dinars' shine
Between a psalmodist boastful of his rosary
And a murmuring chant of prayers and verses
And an oriental monk, with tears not out of piety
Rather, the monastery's warden bars his incenses
Both curse worldly life if it deprived them
Of the pleasures their desires demand
Until Satan unfolds his comfort unto them
And pours for them the sweetest greetings
And they start gathering scraps of their sins
To dress the truth in robes of heresies
O people, your misguidance saddens my heart
And your knowledge seems an ignorance
If religion is indispensable, I'll have one
That saves the soul from the evils of life
A religion where passions lift its follower
To angels, in the sacred heavenly heights
