Is there on earth a worshipper of God

Whose heart is not enthralled by beauty?

Prayer has no meaning if the worshipper

Does not make love his act of worship.

How sweet is the torment of love, O heart,

When the confidant adds fuel to its flames!

In my being, frail, extinguished youth

And the love of my nights increased it.

God lit passion in the sky

And cast it down, so my heart was its harvest.
