1. كذبت هند حين قالت لك القل

    ب عزيزاً بالحب والإيمان

    Hind lied when she told you her heart

    Was faithful in love and belief

  2. كذبت هند حين قالت لك الحب

    وما شئت من رضاً وحنان

    Hind lied when she spoke of love

    And all she wished of consent and affection

  3. فلقد أخلفت مواثقها القد

    م وباحت بالسر قبل الأوان

    For she broke her ancient vows

    And disclosed the secret before its time

  4. ومضت تشهد الأنام على حبي

    وأغرت بصبوتي خلّاني

    And passed, testifying to people of my love

    And seduced with my voice, she left me

  5. كذبت هند لا أقول بطبع

    غير أن الدلال سرّ الغواني

    Hind lied, I do not say it is her nature

    Except that coquetry is the secret of the beautiful

  6. وهي في الحب جنّتي وجحيمي

    وجنوني وعزّتي وهواني

    She is my paradise and hell in love

    My madness, my dignity, and my disgrace

  7. وأنا فيه مثلما عهدتني

    قبل بدء الوجود والأكوان

    And I am in it as she knew me

    Before the beginning of existence and universes

  8. أستشفّ المنى خلال الزمان

    وأذوق المحال كالإمكان

    I seek fulfillment throughout time

    And I taste the impossible as possible

  9. وزماني عليّ والعجز من

    طبعي فإني على الحقيقة فان

    And my time is upon me and my inadequacy is

    My nature though in truth I am mortal

  10. وزماني منى وإن كنت عنه

    نائيا في الوجود والحسبان

    And my time is of me though if I am

    Distant from it in existence and estimation

  11. وهو داج حينا وحينا مضىء

    عبقريّ في البخل والإحسان

    It is at times illuminated and at times passed

    A genius in frugality and benevolence

  12. كذبت هند فلتكن أخت عفو

    فلقد صرت خلّة الحرمان

    Hind lied so let her be a sister of forgiveness

    For I have become the essence of deprivation

  13. ولتكن في فراقها مثل هند

    يوم كان الزمان من أخداني

    And let her separation from me be like Hind

    When time was gentle with me

  14. يوم كانت منى وكنت هواها

    قبل أن أصطلى بنار الهوان

    When she was mine and I was her passion

    Before I was touched by the fire of disgrace

  15. كنت معنى جلالها وبهاها

    وسناها المحجوب عن أجفاني

    I was the meaning of her glory and brilliance

    And her hidden splendor was veiled from my eyes

  16. الها لا أشم ما يبعث التر

    ب ومن يسكنونه من دخان

    My God, I do not smell what arouses sadness

    And those who inhabit it with smoke

  17. عبقريّاً لو ضاقت الأرض باللي

    ل لأسكنته ذرا وجداني

    A genius, if the earth was too narrow for the night

    I would settle it in my spirit and conscience

  18. وأحطت الجو الذي هو فيه

    بضباب الفناء والنسيان

    And I would grasp the sky in which it is

    With the mist of oblivion and forgetfulness

  19. ثم ألقيت للألى يسكنون ال

    أرض مرساتها بغير امتنان

    Then I would cast anchors for the weary who inhabit

    The earth without favor

  20. قائلا فلتك الحياة نهارا

    مثلما كان قبل خلق الزمان

    Saying let the day be your life

    As it was before the creation of time

  21. وليكن نور شمسهم هو هادي

    هم إلى نور ربها الصمداني

    And let the light of their sun be their guide

    To the light of its eternal Lord

  22. هؤلاء الألى يضيقون بالنو

    ر إذا كان عالي الفيضان

    They who are distressed by light when it

    Flows abundantly

  23. هؤلاء الأُلى يموتون في اللي

    ل فلا يحرمون من أكفاني

    They who die in the night and are not deprived of my shroud

    I live among them alone

  24. أنا فيهم أعيش يا هند وحدى

    عبد قلبي وعبد ما أحزاني

    A slave of my heart and slave of my sorrows

    I swear by He whom I profess from conviction

  25. قسما بالذي أكنّ من الوج

    د وبالسافيات من أشجاني

    And by the pleiades of my pain

    I am not with them nor are they my concern

  26. ما أنا عندهم ولا همهم همى

    ولا نومهم لعيني بهاني

    Nor is their sleep medicinal for my distressed eyes

    Bring your ascent nearer O Hind for the climb

  27. قرّبي مرتقاك يا هند ما اسطع

    ت فقد أتعب الصعود جناني

    Has wearied my soul

    I, O Hind, remain still her son standing

  28. أنا يا هند لا أزال ابنها الوا

    قف بين السفوح والكثبان

    Between the slopes and dunes

    I see the light behind your face forgetting

  29. أنظر النور خلف وجهك ينسا

    ب على العالمين والأزمان

    The worlds and times

    While I, confused in believing heart, am happy in my confusion

  30. وأنا بين مؤمن القلب حيرا

    ن سعيدا بقلبي الحيران

    I wish you would inspire me

    With some of what you are inspired with in meanings

  31. أتمنى عليك أن تلهمييني

    بعض ما تلهمينه من معاني

    Content with what you love of me

    Swimming in your divine existence

  32. قانعاً بالذي تحبين منى

    سابحاً في وجودك الرباني

    A planet that brings life and illuminates

    What is beyond the universes of universes

  33. كوكب يبعث الحياة ويجلو

    ما وراء الأكوان من أكوان

    Bring your ascent nearer O Hind until

    It meets me at the kindling of annihilation

  34. قرّبي مرتقاك يا هند حتى

    التقى بي عند اشتعال التفاني

    When the clamor becomes stillness in my imagination

    And weeping is like songs

  35. عندما يصبح الضجيج سكونا

    في خيالي والنوح مثل الأغاني

    When life and those in it set

    And the Eternal remains and the mortal perishes

  36. عندما تغرب الحياة ومن فيها

    ويبقى الباقي ويفنى الفاني

    When the end ends until

    I do not see myself though truly I see myself

  37. عندما تنتهي النهاية حتى

    لا أراني والحق أني أراني

    When you say: Glory be to my Lord

    And I pray facing the direction of Glory

  38. عندما تنطقين سبحان ربي

    فأصلي في قبلة السبحان

    When you hear in the verse of the King

    Peace from our Lord, the Merciful

  39. عند ما تسمعين في آية الملك

    سلاما من ربنا الرحمن

    I am completed in it and clothed

    In the mantle of majesty and faith

  40. أنتهى عنده وأدرج فيه

    برداء الجلال والإيمان

    Then we pass from existence and those in it

    To perish in the second ending

  41. ثم نمضى عن الوجود ومن فيه

    لنفنى في الانتهاء الثاني

    Holy is He, and mercy, and release

    From the shackles of recompense and pardon

  42. قدُسٌ هو ورحمة وانطلاقٌ

    من قيود الجزاء والغفران

    O my madness in the moment I am in it

    Two bow lengths from the heat of religion

  43. يا جنوني من لحظة أنا فيها

    قاب قوسين من حمى الديان

    I complain to Him of passion and fervently repent

    With repentance still filling my soul

  44. أشتكى عنده الهوى وأُلبّى

    توبةً لا تزال ملء جناني

    My repentance from loving and my patience

    And my delirium with spirit and basil

  45. توبتي عن تعشقي واصطباري

    وهيامي بالروح والريحان

    O my madness from the moment that ends me

    To a sanctified spiritual existence

  46. يا جنوني من لحظة تنتهي بي

    لوجود مقدّس روحاني

    I become intoxicated with the wine of my witnessing

    Of my place and where is my place

  47. أنتشي عنده بخمر شهودي

    لمكاني وأين منى مكاني

    At that point I ascend to you and strive

    With my heart with the many-colored light

  48. عندها أرتقى إليك وأسعى

    بفؤادي مع الضياء الواني

    At that point I mysteriously transform into God

    A secret concealed except from mankind's Creator

  49. عندها أستحيل للَه سرا

    غاب إلا عن خالق الإنسان

    The secret of a slave who obeyed love's caller

    With a heart transcending meanings

  50. سرّ عبد أطاع داعية الحبّ

    بقلب معناه فوق المعاني

    O my bliss from it, from you, and from what

    I have gathered for our pleasures from wishes

  51. يا نوني منها ومنك ومما

    جمعته لذّاتنا من أماني

    O Hind what is it with a heart like mine

    That secretly witnesses love as if visible

  52. إيه يا هند ما لقلب كقلبي

    يشهد الحب خافيا كالعيان

    I do not know which hearts are more sincere

    And which secrets are in my being

  53. لست أدرى أيّ القلوب أخو صد

    رى وأيّ الأسرار ما في كياني

    Do you see me see with my eyes from your light

    What melodies have fascinated my songs?

  54. أتراني أرى بعينيّ من نو

    رك ما تيّمت به ألحاني

    I do not know the extent of my end

    After the long insomnia and deprivation

  55. لست أدرى نهايتي ما مداها

    بعد طول السهاد والحرمان

    Do you think I will meet you not distant

    From my heart, my thought, which is obedient?

  56. أترى ألتقيك ما لبعيد

    عن فؤادي وخاطري وهو دان

    And the shackles I endure from my essence

    And the march of time has fettered my rein

  57. والقيود التي أكابد من ذا

    تي وخطو الزمان قيد عناني

    No, I am not the entirety of my comfort, no, nor

    Is my lifetime submissive to bonds and restraints

  58. لا أنا ملء راحتي لا ولا

    عمري طوع الأغلال والأرسان

    So farewell to you as long as I have lived from me

    And farewell to my vanishing heart

  59. فسلام عليك ما عشت مني

    وسلام على فؤادي الفاني

    And farewell to the lovers before me

    And those passing in my burial shrouds

  60. وسلام على المحبين قبلي

    وعلى الدارجيّ في أكفاني

    For them love began and to it

    Ended them, and who quenched them quenched me

  61. فمن الحب بدؤهم وإليه

    منتهاهم ومن سقاهم سقاني

    And farewell to you as long as you escorted me

    With tears from your weeping eyes

  62. وسلام عليك ما شيّعتني

    عبرات من جفنك النديان

    For I have lived like people lifetimes

    Laughing at sorrows in the name of passion

  63. فلق عشت كالأنام زمانا

    باسم الوجد ضاحك الأحزان

    And my time has passed and in my hand is only

    My comfort and the garb of my wishes

  64. ومضت ساعتي وليس بكفي

    سوى راحتي وثوب أماني

    And farewell from God to my disgrace

    The farewell of divine holiness

  65. وسلام على هوانا من الله

    سلام القداسة الرباني

    And a farewell to me the day I meet Him

    With my love in my hand and my disgrace

  66. وسلامٌ عليّ يوم ألاقيه

    وحبي على يدي وهواني
