This is your place in passion and my place

Though the homes differ, we are close

O soul of my dreams and spring of my thoughts

And my bliss in my joy and in my sorrows

My yearning for you is near and far

With lights obscured from my eyelids

After you, my night is my tavern and my tears

My wine and specters of sorrow are my drinking companions

Life has flowed between its confusion and certainty

A soul living on beauty and the idea

Of eternity and divinity among its mysteries

Darkness robbed the light of our two hearts

And days speak of their thoughts

We had a world whose flowers wilted

So the winds of death blew away its traces

Were it not for my burning in passion and my faithfulness

Darkness would have folded my holiness and radiance

On the road, as you knew, there are graves

I still mourn its inhabitants with my crying

They drank from pleasures, intoxicated by its wine

And left without a sound or echo

And they have remnants on the back of life

What a difference between their dust and my heavens

Do you remember when you heard my melodies

While I and you and my longing and my pining

The dreams of youth returned to you and you told me

I love you despite my misery and laments

I love you, if only you had kept it from my hearing

So I would be its martyr and you its priestess

It was the excuse of a lover and his bliss

If only fate had obeyed my right hand
