يا أخي في الله إن العهد

في الله وثيق

O my brother in God, the covenant

In God is strong

وطريق الحق ضحيا

ن فهيّا والطريق

And the path of truth is clear

So come, let's take the path

يا أخي في الله هذا

الفجر ممدود الظلال

O my brother in God, this

Dawn with far-reaching shadows

كان لي بالأمس محراب

صلاة وابتهال

Was for me yesterday a place of prayer

And supplication

ذهب الأمس فلا تهف

إليه وتعال

Yesterday is gone, so do not yearn

For it, and come

نزرع الأفق مني

حمراء يخشاها الزوال

We will sow the horizon with

Scarlet that the decline fears

ونوشي بالقنا المخضوب

أعناق الجبال

And let us irrigate with the sword-reddened canal

The necks of mountains

إنها ساعة إيمان

وعزم ونضال

It is an hour of faith

Resolve and struggle

نبتت في الزمن الغربيب

بيضاء المجال

It sprouted in strange times

White in its arena

فاغتنمها يقظ الوجدان

مشبوب الخيال

So seize it, awake in fervor

Imagination kindled

وأدر عينيك في البيداء

واستفت الرمال

And turn your eyes to the desert

And ask the sands

فلها في عالم الصمت

نداءات طوال

For in the world of silence

It has long calls

يا أخي في الله إن العهد

في الله وثيق

O my brother in God, the covenant

In God is strong

وطريق الحق ضحيا

فهيا والطريق

And the path of truth is clear

So come, let's take the path

يا أخي في الله هذي

القمم الشمّ شهود

O my brother in God, these

Peaks witness

لك فيها حسب ضخم

الأحاديث مجيد

For you in them a great

Magnificent tradition

تربها الصديان آباءٌ

كرام وجدود

Its soil fathers

Noble and generous

توجوا المجد بتاج الخلد

والمجد وليد

Crowned with the crown of eternity

And glory is born

الزمان الكهل غاب

وهمو فيه الأسود

Old age has passed

And in it the lions sleep

عرب كالشهب وضاءون

مضاءون صيد

Arabs like shooting stars shone

Radiant prey

لم يكن فيهم لغير

الحق والخير وجود

In them there was no existence except

For truth and goodness

وفراعين على أمجادهم

صلّى الخلود

And knights over their glories

Prayed for eternity

ذكرهم في خاطر

الدهر قديم وجديد

Their memory in the mind

Of time is ancient and new

كلهم قلبٌ يناجي

ولسان يستعيد

All of them a heart whispering

And a tongue remembering

يا أخي في الله إن العهد

في الله وثيق

O my brother in God, the covenant

In God is strong

وطريق الحق ضحيا

فهيّا والطريق

And the path of truth is clear

So come, let's take the path

يا أخي في الله

هذي القمم الشم عدول

O my brother in God

These witnessing peaks

هذه الرملة تحكي أختها فيما تقول

إنها تنشر للذّروة

This sand grain tells its sister in what it says

That it spreads for the summit

ما تطوى السهول

ويحها ظمياء تخشى

What the plains fold

And woe betide it fears

الريّ من دمّ الضلول

شربته أزرق المعدن

The irrigation of the misguided

He drank it blue ore

مسموم الأصول

ثم دار الزمن المارد

Poisonous roots

Then the defiant time turned

عجلان الفصول

وجرى صهيون خلف

Swift seasons

And Zion ran after

الوهم والوهم قتول

فبنى قبر أمانيه

Illusion, and illusion is lethal

So it built the grave of its wishes

وأغراه الفضول

وأراد الله أن ينتحر

And greed seduced it

And God wanted the lazy

الحظ الكسول

فإذا ما شاء صهيون

Fortune to commit suicide

So if Zion willed

غثاء في سيول

وأتينا ولنا بالنصر

Rubbish in torrents

While we have faith

إيمانٌ طليق

نبعث الماضي الذي

Strong and pure

We resurrect the past that

كفّنه الدهر السحيق

يا أخي في الله

The ancient time shrouded

O my brother in God

إن الحرب عمياء الدخان

كان في عيني نهار

War is blind with smoke

In my eyes there was

لا تسلني كيف كان

طرق الليل على الهيجاء

A day, do not ask me how

The ways of night were

أبواب الزمان

فاجعل الليلة دهرا

On the raging one, doors of time

So make the night an era

من جلاد وطعان

واسق صهيون لظاها

Of executioner and stabber

And quench Zion’s thirst

حممى الغليان

وإذ ناداك من أحلاف

With the boiling lava

And if the tongues of

صهيون لسان

يتمنى هدنة الحرب

Zion's allies called you

Wishing for truce of war

وإغماد السنان

فاذكر القتلى

And sheathing of swords

Then remember the dead

وما ذاقواه من كفّ الجبان

وارتقب يومي

And what they suffered from the coward’s palm

And wait for my day

فيومي مثلما أعلم دان

يا أخي في الله

For my day, as I know, is close
